GOD'S 40 ACRES In 2001, the members of First Christian Church began a three-year stewardship campaign called "God's Challenge Our Choice" to purchase "God's 40 Acres", a parcel of land on the south edge of Rapid City along the main highway that leads to Mount Rushmore. God worked wonders through His people, and at the end of three years, the land was paid in full! But where God is at work, so is the adversary, and plans to relocate First Christian Church to the property have been postponed for various reasons. FCC has experienced challenges and setbacks, but as we seek to follow God's will in this endeavor we know |
that His timing is perfect. The property adjoining the 40 acres that was being considered by WalMart was recently sold at auction to investors. Local realtors have plans to develop the property to the south into a 300+ housing community called Hyland Park. They will be bringing in the necessary infrastructure that is needed before we could begin our building project. Until then, we will focus on finding new leadership for FCC to help us continue to follow God's will for our congregation.
