ABOUT US
The purpose of First Christian
Church is to glorify God! We do so when we impact our Black Hills
community and beyond, by bringing people to Christ, building them up
in the faith, and sending them out to make a difference in the
world.
First Christian Church has been
known in the Rapid City area since 1939.
While the Black Hills community has
many fine churches that work together to share Christ's love, FCC is
a non-denominational church which seeks to follow the teachings of
the Bible. We are a fellowship of believers who have no creed
but Christ, no book but the Bible, and wear no name but Christian.
Membership with First Christian
requires that a person believe in Jesus Christ as God's Son and be
obedient in baptism, which scripturally is the immersion in water of
a repentant believer.
What We Believe
We believe there is one God,
eternally existing in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe in the deity of the Lord
Jesus Christ — His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His
reconciling death for all people, His resurrection from the dead,
His ascension to heaven, and His return in power and glory. (I
Corinthians 15:3-5)
We believe the Bible is without
error and the authority for all we believe and practice.
(II Timothy 3:16)
We believe salvation is by the
grace of God, apart from any personal merit, and is the common need
of all people for we have all sinned and fallen short of God's
standards.
(Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:5)
We believe that salvation is
through faith in Christ alone.
(Ephesians 2:8-9)
The Bible teaches that the appropriate response of faith to the
grace of God is that we:
*repent of sin (Luke 13:3)
*confess Christ as Lord
(Matthew 10:32)
*be baptized (immersed) in
His name for the forgiveness
of sin and to receive the gift
of the Holy Spirit (Act 2:38,
I Peter 3:21, Col.2:9-12)
The new believer is then encouraged to grow in the grace and
knowledge of the Lord.
(Eph. 2:10, James 2:17)
We believe in the ministry of the
Holy Spirit, Whose indwelling presence empowers and directs the
Christian to live a godly life.
(Acts 2:38, Romans 8:11,
I Corinthians 6:19-20)
We believe in the resurrection from
the dead, with believers inheriting eternal life with Christ and
unbelievers facing eternity without Christ.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus
Christ. (John 17:20-21)

OUR SERVICES
Worship
We have three services on Sunday mornings;
A classic service at 8:00am and two contemporary services
at 9:30am and 11:00am.Communion
and Sermon
We remember Christ's sacrifice for
us each week during communion, which is open to all believers. We
grow in understanding and knowledge by hearing the word of God in a
message from our minister or lay preacher.
Nursery
During each service, a quality
nursery is available for infants downstairs in our Children's
Ministry area in Room 9.
Wee Worship
Do you have a toddler or preschooler who is curious about
everything? Bring them down to Wee Worship during both the 9:30 or 11:00 AM
service times. Here they will learn the basic message of God's love
and care for them while playing music, acting out Bible stories,
enjoying snacks, and getting hands-on education. A team of adults
leads the little ones to various rooms around the Fellowship Hall
where they can worship, learn and play in a safe and secure
environment. Check in is located just at the entrance to the
Fellowship Hall.
Kids In The Word
Grade School kids like to have fun and keep moving, so an active
service with lively music, games, Bible lessons, and crafts is available
just for them in the Fellowship hall. A team of adults leads the
whole group together during both the 9:30 and 11:00 AM service times.
Parents should check in their child at the entrance to the
Fellowship Hall before service time. Kids can stay for one or both
hours!
Youth Services
During the school year, Youth from Jr. & Sr. High can attend their
own class time. During the 11:00 AM service we offer
what we call a Youth Alternative. A time for Jr. & Sr. High
students to come together and learn using different Christian
education material. At 9:30 AM we offer our Youth Service
following worship.
This is a time for students to come together for messages geared toward teens. Join us!
Adult Christian Education
Classes are offered in various locations and times. A list of classes and locations
is available in the weekly bulletin.
