Congregational Meeting
Members of First Christian church met together on
Sunday, February 21 to hear plans, vision, and updates from
the church leadership. The Elders and leaders shared reports
from their prospective areas of ministry, followed by a time
of discussion. Ideas were shared about what is working, what
is not working, and where do we go from here. Members were
glad to share their joy that new people are coming, our
church offers a family atmosphere, we have great pastors,
and that the new welcome area allows for more fellowship.
The items of concern among the members were also noted, and
the leaders have been working already to address many of the
areas mentioned. If you would like more information
regarding the meeting, please contact one of the Elders or
Ministers. Know that our leaders are doing their best to
lead this church by the principles set forth in the
Scriptures for the purpose of bringing people into a
long-term
relationship with Jesus Christ.
Help for Haiti
Many people are praying for the victims of the
earthquake in Haiti. Many are also looking for ways to help
with this tragedy. Our Youth Minister Robbie Kubr served as
a missionary in Haiti, near Port-au-Prince at a mission
school and orphanage called Christianville. He had already
put together plans for a mission trip there this summer and
18 youth and sponsors signed up to make the journey.
Originally, the plan was to help with the Vacation Bible
School. Now, the mission has changed. Many of the buildings
were damaged or destroyed at Christianville. There are many
people in the immediate area who are suffering greatly.
Robbie is in contact with the workers there and will be
working with them to provide the help they need when the
mission group arrives this summer. How can you help?
One way is to provide funds needed to get each person there.
The trip is estimated to cost about $1300, and depending on
travel costs, that may increase.
Here are the fundraisers currently planned to help
defray those costs:
Lasagna Dinner coming in April
Each student traveling to Haiti is also seeking
individual support.
For more information, please call Robbie Kubr at 342-5707.
Annual Congregational
Budget Approval
The Budget for 2010 was approved on Sunday, December 13
by a vote of 89 to 1.
We encourage all member of First Christian Church to
support our missions and ministries through regular and
planned giving to the Lord through the church offering or
through
e-tithes.
To get a copy of the budget, pick up an Annual Report
booklet at the church office.
**UPDATE**Our "Building on God's
Premises" program kicked off on September 7, 2008.
We started with a goal of $50,000 in commitments "above and
beyond" regular offerings over the next two years to help
cover the anticipated expense of bringing a road and
utilities past the south edge of the 40 acres the church
owns off of Highway 16. The project was to be completed in
conjunction with the Hyland Crossing housing development
planned for the same area.
To date, we have received over $22,000 in
donations.
There have been some changes
relative to the Hyland Crossing housing development that
affect the plans that FCC had in place. The developers have
postponed and possibly discontinued their plans for the
project, and as a result the Elders at FCC have decided
to suspend the "God's Premises" program at this time.
The funds collected to date for this program will be set
aside in a separate savings account and will not be used for
the immediate needs of the church. Our regular offerings
have been low and we would like to see these offerings grow
to sustain the annual work of the church. The Elders welcome
input from members of FCC on their decision as well as any
ideas for the future use of the funds. You may contact them
individually, or send a group e-mail to
fccelders@rapidnet.com. Be sure to include your name in
any correspondence.
